Cletus and Brandine are stereotypical hillbillies and were married by Homer. Brandine was married 4 times before Cletus.
It is insinuated many times in the series that Brandine and Cletus are related… although I am not sure how. In one episode she said to Cletus, “You are the most wonderful husband, and son, I ever had”; in another episode when she complained that they shouldn’t kiss in from of her parents Cletus’ response was, “They’s my parents too.” And, in yet another episode, Cletus lovingly says,”Oh Brandine, of all the cousins I could have married, you was my sister.”
Is it even possible to be someone’s husband, sibling and child? I’m sure there is a pedigree somewhere that says yes.
